Sometimes there's a rap dryspell ...

Welcome to the Reggae Oasis ... wanker

Bunny Rugs - Be Thankful
The Heptones - Richard Khoury
Simon and Garfunkel - Richard Cory

... Especially after the last month of prolific hip hop releases to hit the Internet. Because of the rap drought, the monotony of the musical desert will be broken up with the first installment of the Reggae Oasis. So here are a couple jernts for you. A cover of William DeVaughn's "Be Thankful." You know, that "Diamond in the back / sunroof top ..." And a cover of a dope ass Simon and Garfunkel song, "Richard Cory." The original song (which is actually a poem by Edwin Robinson) ends with Richard Cory killing himself, but for some reason these dudes wanted to leave that morbid, ironic detail out.

RIP Desmond Dekker. Maybe a future mp3 post is in order.
