Classic or Zzzzzz ... ?

3MGs (3 Melancholy Gypsies) - Nautilus
produced by Eligh (?)
album: Grand Caravan to the End of the World (2005)

is familiar to ... a hundred other rap songs including tracks by A Tribe Called Quest and the Ultramagnetic MCs, also notably:
Ghostface Killah - Daytona 500
produce by the RZA
album: Ironman (1996)

Comments: Sorry, 3MGs, disguising your track as an homage and naming it after the burnt out sample (Bob James - Nautilus) doesn't make it less lazy, you bums.

Another one for the Gipper ...

Missy Elliott - We Run This
produced by Rhemario "Rio Beats" Webber (who? Mike Jones! who?)
album: The Cookbook (2005)

yo, i heard this before, isn' t it ... ?
Sugarhill Gang - Apache ... Grandmaster Flash ... another million songs I'd rather not recount.

Comments: Though an infectious break, and Missy actually adds a pretty cool marching band interpretation of the track in her song, any sample that has been prominently featured in an episode of the Fresh Prince (the one where Carlton gets thrown into the wall at the Vegas dance competition, the song may be the Sugarhill Gang version) and used as a major movie theme (Snatch) should be retired. From now on, only Saleem Remi (Nas - Made You Look) can touch it. Jump on it!
