I like backpacks and I cannot lie ...

Dr. Octagon is back? After 10 years? Who knew. Anyway, here's a couple tracks from the upcoming and originally titled "The Return of Dr. Octagon." Keith must be hurting for cash. Produced by some team One Watt Sun and scratching courtesty of the Avalanches' DJ Dexta. I like "Ants" better.

Dr. Octagon - Trees

Dr. Octagon - Ants

So, People Under the Stairs have been releasing a steady stream of rap music since 1999 as far as I know, and they've been consistent with their sound. That sound, however, can be boring. But they always come correct on at least a few tracks. Cuts off the upcoming "Stepfather."

People Under the Stairs - Step In

People Under the Stairs - Jamboree Part 1

One time in New York I inadvertantly played accessory to the gaffling of PUTS' merchandise. I still feel bad. Also, when I had a radio show I think "Chollo Dad" must've been in the top ten requests of all time, easily.

Something smells fishy ...

Ghostface - Can Can feat. Shareefa

Ghostface - Jellyfish feat. Cappadonna, Trife, Shawn (MF Doom prod.)

The "Fishscale" album has a lot of soul samples (same shit, different day) and Ghost comes pretty correct on a lot of it, as far as I can tell. Some of the Doom beats are reused though, unless I have a shady copy of this. I hate to say, the Doom beats might be the weakest on the album, besides the sped-up J Dilla cut. (blasphemous!) Oh, wait, no, the Just Blaze cut is worse. (saved!)

and a snippet of "Angeles" from the upcoming Ghostface and Doom collab album. (courtesy of spine magazine)

Kids will be kids, unless they're "kidz"

Kidz Bop is awesome. A new addition to the series was released on Tuesday, which features reenactments of songs by Green Day, Weezer, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, and the Gorillaz. Hot shit, but to be honest, Kidz Bop 8 was better.

Weezer - Beverly Hills (Kidz Bop Version)

"My automobile is a piece of junk."

Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc. (Kidz Bop Version)

Haha. Who are those rappers?

Crazy Frog - Axel F (Kidz Bop Version)

I think the world is going to explode. These two horrible pop music phenomenons have finally crossed paths, and it doesn't bode well for people who don't believe in a Messiah. I don't even know how they "sing along" with this. There wasn't any singing in the first place. I want to kill myself. But first I need to find a way to make sure there's no such thing as a hell because this song is inevitably being played in the waiting room. This or "My Humps."

Killa Cam

Cam'ron - Wet Wipes

Killa Cam spits over this buzzy synth ALC production. Lots of punchlines in this one. Alchemist might be falling off, though.

One more today

Hyphy hyphy hyphy?

No, San Quinn is beyond a trend.

San Quinn comin' like Scarface on "Do That For Me." Offa "The Rock: Pressure Makes Diamonds."

Let's play catch up

Since I just started doing this music thing today, I'll slowly fill you in on what's been dope in the past few weeks.

Keak Da Sneak - Bumpers feat. E-40

There was a version of this song on "Contact Sport" but without Fortywater. This one's offa "Kunta Kinte."

Keak Da Sneak - Get That Doe feat. Hollis and Eklips the Hustla

This one doesn't sound "Hyphy," whatever that's supposed to mean. Pretty sure that's the Commodores song being flipped. Also from "Kunta Kinte."

Jog Snog Flog Clog Nog ... Blog.

I've decided: I'm not smart. I'm not funny. I have a MySpace account to be an idiot.

So here are some mpfrees. From now on I will just post music that I get my hands on. Booya, suckas.

To start us off, some bay slappers from the second string:

D.B.z - Ah Shit

From "E-40 and Mugzi Present the D.B.z Speaking in Mannish."

The Mossie - Cuzzo What it Do feat. Turf Talk

The Mossie - Off a Bottle feat. Battle Loc

From "E-40 presents The Mossie - Soil Savvy"

Gotta have that Fortywater presents in the title....
